In Which I Strike Out Without Playing Baseball or Leaving the House…

Happy Monday, Readers! I’m not an athletic person, so sports were never my thing (especially baseball. I can’t throw…ahem, I mean pitch a ball, nor am I likely to hit a home-run *cough cough*. So yeah, I’d be the person striking out all the time XD). However, in this case, striking out is a good thing!

How do you play? Well, you just take the handy dandy list below and simply cross off what you have done, leave uncrossed what you haven’t done, and give a little explanation if you please. Pretty straightforward.

Oh yes, and don’t forget to link back to the people who tagged you! In this case, the two lovely friends of mine, Grace and Lily Yu (yep, if I got tagged a third time I’d be out. Get it? Three strikes, you’re out? … Okay, okay, I’ll stop with the baseball puns and references.)

So, let’s play ball I mean the Strike Out Challenge! (I may or may not have been trying for that ball reference… XD).

P.s Lily said she removed a few of the questions from the original challenge in order to be more appropriate for those she tagged 🙂

Kissed someone – Yes and no (hence the half strike lol). Yes in an unromantic way (for family) and no, in a romantic way…so does this mean I strike this out or not?…Hmm…

Gone to a rock concert – Technically, no, because they’re too loud for my taste. We once went to a church service where they played Christian rock and it definitely felt more like a concert than a worship service (just… don’t ask. My ears are still ringing from it all).

Helped someone – Yes, a few times.

Gone fishing – Once with a makeshift fishing pole (we used a stick, some string, and a raisin…the fish never took a bite) and another time with buckets. I even caught a tiny minnow in my hand.

Watched four movies in one night – No, I wouldn’t last that long. I’m not exactly a night owl lol.

Lied to someone – *cough cough* Not something I’m proud of *embarrassed grin*

Failed a subject – MATH!!! I mean, I was pretty okay with it, but for some reason in my final year of highschool, I failed math (I ended up taking an extra semester to review and try the test again before I passed *phew!*).

Been in a car accident – Not a major one, thankfully. A lady clipped our car on the street while we were driving, though.

Been in a tsunami – We were just reading a book with a tsunami (The Dragon, by Jamie Lee Grey), and it sounds terrifying! Thankfully, I haven’t been in one (I’m also too scared to watch The Impossible, which is a movie based off a real story of tsunami survivors).

Watched someone die (including pets) – No.

Been to a funeral – More like a memorial (actually three, if I remember right. One for my dad’s former basketball coach, and two for distant relatives.)

Burned yourself – Ouch! Yep, been there, don’t want to do that again XD

Run a marathon – Haha…remember how I said I wasn’t athletic? Yeah, there’s no way I’d be able to run a marathon, or survive one…

Spend over 10,000 bucks in one day – Aww snap! If only! I don’t make that kind of money (but if someone’s offering me 10,000 bucks, I’ll take it! Ice cream for everyone!)

Flown on an airplane – When I was really little (maybe around four or five?) my family and I flew to a relative’s wedding. I just remember the ground being so far away when you looked out the window, and there were lots of people in the airport.

Written a 18 page letter (front & back) – No, I haven’t done that. I imagine getting a really big hand cramp before even reaching the tenth page lol.

Gone skiing – Nope. I’m not really coordinated to do that. I prefer to stick to solid, non-slippery ground 🙂

Lost someone you loved – Yes.

Got into trouble for something you didn’t do – …Probably? I’m not 100% sure on that.

Stolen a book from a library – NO! Absolutely not. According to one library, I never returned the something-odd-number of books I borrowed (which I totally did, I swear!). I am innocent until proven guilty *nods*.

Gone to a different country – No. But I think it’d be a lot of fun to try.

Gambled in a casino – No, I’m not a risk taker…though I’ve had to walk through a few casinos to get to a different building or street.

Been in a school play – Alas, I’m a terrible actress. I will spare Hollywood of my very raw, non-existent talents.

Taken a lie detector test – Nada.

Voted for someone on a reality TV show – No.

Read more than 20 books a year – I don’t think so. I’m a rather slow reader XD.

Gone to Europe – *sighs* I’d like to, but no, I haven’t.

Had a surgery – Minor tooth surgery; does that count? I hit my mouth with my bike handles when I crashed (I was about thirteen).

Had stitches – Nuh-uh.

Ridden a tuk-tuk (autorickshaw) – Since I haven’t traveled internationally (and we don’t have these locally lol), then no, I haven’t. Maybe that will change if I become a world traveler!

Had more than 5 IM conversations going on at once – I don’t believe my brain couldn’t handle that XD

Been in a fist fight – Thankfully not. I’m not a very aggressive person.

Had a pet – Yes, several! Chickens, cats, and at one point a frog and some pillbugs (erm, not at the same time though. Wouldn’t want the pillbugs to be a frog’s snack XD)

Petted a wild animal – In my dreams. Though, I would prefer if it was a rabbit or a deer, not an alligator or a bear *shudders*.

Had your own credit card & bought something with it – Nope.

Dyed your hair – Never dyed my hair.

Got a tattoo – Ouch. Uh, no….

Had something pierced – Yes, my ears! That’s about as much poking as I’ll take (unless it’s a tetanus or rabies shot.)

Got a straight A – Yes, though I can’t recall which subject (probably pre-highschool math XD. Just kidding 😉 )

Taken pictures with a webcam – No, I don’t have a webcam yet.

Gone to sleep with music on – Nope. Music usually keeps me awake 😉

Phew! We’re almost caught up with tags! Now it’s your turn: have you ever spent over 10,000 bucks in a day? Petted a wild animal? Or has anyone played sports, like baseball?

  1. Soccer was at gym class. I actually took a basketball class and played against the competitive boys and girls’ teams. We won the girls but not the boys (of course lol)

    1. Awesome! Good for you guys! I remember playing boys against girls at a homeschool get-together years ago (soccer, that is). We’re still not sure who won that game…I just remember sore shins XD.

      1. Thanks! We were all like jumping up and down. I wish the boys game could have been 1st though. We could have finished the class on a high note. Lol

  2. I’ve played basketball, soccer (during gym class at a co-op) and volleyball non-competitively. Basketball is my favorite though.

  3. I’m with you on baseball Lilly. I love playing non-competitive sports with other fellow homeschoolers. I really dislike baseball though. I got hit playing softball and it hurt a lot! I do enjoy kickball and wiffleball though.

      1. Haha, I didn’t. Wish I could have had that story instead of the broken bone stories I had. I’m kinda surprised I didn’t really get injured playing sports except a turned ankle once in awhile. I did get a slight concussion (not enough to notice but I had nuero [sorry about the misspelling, autocorrect wouldn’t help me 😂] feedback)

  4. ahhhh…. do goats count XD?
I’ve touched a butterfly before though! LOL
And yes, ice cream sounds sooooooo gooooooood right about now!
My favorite sport of all time is soccer (almost everyone in my immediate family has played it at one point), but I’ve also played Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, and football (for fun!).

    1. Lol, sure, we’ll count that 😉 Oh cool! Do you know what kind of butterfly?

How fun! I know the basics of volleyball (because my dad used to coach it for middle-schoolers lol.) Do you still play soccer?

      1. I think they were the small, little white butterflies… whatever they’re called *shrugs*
Haha, not on a team, no. We haven’t been able to find a soccer league yet. I still play it with my brother for fun though 😉

  5. Lily, I loved your answers!!! 😀 No kidding, math can be so bothersome. *sighs, shaking head* I’m almost done with geometry right now. Aaaalmost. 😀

And I’ve never been in sports… my family’s just not into it, and having so many kids while being homeschooled, there aren’t tons of opportunities to drive so many different places. 😅 But merely playing around with a ball, I have done! XD (And I’ve experienced the thrill of shooting a basketball perfectly. All I have to boast about. Lol!) All that is to say is, I’d be with you on striking out all the time in baseball!

    1. Ack! Geometry! Algebra (like the second year or something) was my arch nemesis XD. *sends big hug* You can do this, Saraina! I believe in you. Is this your final year in school?

*high fives* Awesome! At least you got the ball in the hoop. My dad tried to show my sister how to do it once, but I’m so short…and the ball kept missing the hoop XD.

Maybe we could look cool while holding the bats instead 😉

      1. Ugh, talk about it! XD Aww, Lily, thank you so much!!! Yes, it is my final year in school! (My one consolation! 😛 )

Lol, exactly! Hehe, poor you! XD

        YES 😎

  6. Ahh, I feel you with the Christian rock that feels like a concert and leaves your ears ringing. Definitely not my favorite type of service to attend! And aww, you’d spend 10,000 bucks on giving everyone ice cream? That is so sweet of you – and that sounds so yummy. 🙂

    1. I know, right? Especially when they get that bass drum going and you feel it right in your chest (even though it might be a huge sanctuary and you’re sitting the very back lol. Can’t seem to escape it.)

Lol, if I had to spend it all in one day, I’ll try! What’s your favorite flavor?
