Happy June, everyone! How is your the start to your summer? Any big plans? I have so many ideas and have yet to write it all down (and organize it…yeah, I’m behind Lol.)

First, I want to give a big thank you to Pearl who nominated me for this fun tag! I can’t wait to get started, so here are the rules!

• Has a book ever changed your life?

Yes, I can think of a few that have definitely changed or influenced me. First, the Bible, where I learned about God and forgiveness. Second, books by C.S Lewis, Lloyd Alexander, Millie Howard, Elizabeth George Speare, and Dawn L. Watkins which fueled my love for storytelling and inspired me to write amazing stories like them.

• What’s your favorite genre to read?

I love middle grade and pretty much any genre it comes in (except horror. I could never stomach creepy, scary stories; hence I blocked The Telltale Heart from my mind after highschool literature class *cough cough*). But MG fantasy, contemporary, historical, etc. have been a lot of fun to explore.

• What’s the first book you remember reading?

*blanks* Lol. I remember my parents reading The Big Green Pocketbook and Blue Kangaroo out loud to me, but on my own? The only one I can think of right now is the Runaway Princess by Millie Howard (although I know there were others…).

• What’s your least favorite book?

I didn’t really like The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald. Our mom read it aloud to us when we were kids, but I just remember it being weird, and not very exciting (actually, I was waiting for the goblins to capture the princess so we could have an epic escape/rescue, but it never happened.) I tried to reread it again when I was older, but I never got into it.

• Are there any books that are really popular but you dislike?

…Oh dear, now I’ll really get in trouble XD. Uh, let’s see. I really don’t like Wonder by R.J Palacio *ducks from flying tomatoes*

Haha. *clears throat* Let me explain; I feel like the author could have done more showing in the book, especially with the character’s growth. To me, that would have made the book even more moving and impactful. Also, some of the POVs in the book seemed to trail off and never tied back into the climax (I know what the author was trying to do, but it just fizzled out for me.) In the end, it felt more like a series of interviews, if I’m making sense? There’s probably more, but I’ll leave it at that *ducks from more flying tomatoes*.

• Are there any books that are considered terrible but are your secret pleasure?

I don’t think so. Usually, if it’s considered terrible (I’m assuming you mean poorly written, bad characterization, etc) I pretty much agree…

• What was the last book you read?

I scheduled this post in advance, so at the time I’m writing this, it’s Hitty: Her First Hundred Years by Rachel Field.

• Do you have an all-time favorite book character?

No, I don’t. *gasp!* Why, you ask? Because it’s so hard to pick just one! Should I do Lucy Pevensie or Reepicheep? Maybe the Professor from A Dreadful Fairy Tale? No, no, I can’t forget Jaron and Imogen from the Ascendance series…but then I really love Halt and Will from Ranger’s Apprentice… and Alys too…(see my dilemma? *hugs characters tightly*).

• How do you pick books to read?

I usually read the synopsis and add it to a list to check into further. Sometimes I’ll read reviews to get a better idea of what the book is like. Or, if it’s an author I already know and love, and if the synopsis sounds good, I’ll most likely read it. I suppose that just proves that the blurb/synopsis really is an important selling point of your book! *realizes I should go work on my own*  Oops. You didn’t hear that from me *winks*

• How many books do you read a month?

Uh…I’d say roughly one to two books a month (I’m a slow reader *haha*.)
